Born and raised in Aberdeen on a staple diet of beats, rhymes and anything else that took his fancy on the tables that turn A La Fu packed his record bags to reside and work in London where his first gig was at the world famous Fabric. Among other things he soon found himself appearing on television with the godfather of Hip Hop, DJ Kool Herc illustrating the art of DJ’ing and turntablism, competing against the Scratch Perverts at the first ever DMC Team Finals, later performing at the request of the Scratch Perverts at a packed Glastonbury and filmed by MTV at the Hip Hop Immortals event alongside Roots Manuva and GZA (Wu Tang Clan).
Eventually turning his hand to production A La Fu releases records under his own VaVa Records imprint as well as recording works for Big Dada/Ninja Tune Records who he still works closely with today. He records and hosts the official Big Dada podcast, has completed remix work for Coldcut, Juice Aleem, The Infesticons and Saul Williams, toured extensively worldwide, solo as well as the dj for artists such as Roots Manuva and labels like New York's Def Jux.
Currently building a studio in Barcelona where he is to record brand new material and develop his new DJ Memoirs project among others, this is an opportunity to catch a fire that can warm us all. Pure heat guaranteed.
