Julio Bashmore, Luke Abbott, Dominik Eulberg and Dubfire are just some of the artists booked for Montreal's weekly open air series.
Piknic Electronik have unveiled their program for 2011, which begins later this month and wraps up at the end of September.
The weekly event brings dozens of DJs and live acts to Montreal each year, and puts them in an atmosphere very unlike any other open-air: the dance floor sits just beside the River St. Laurent, with a view of the Montreal skyline, and just below a massive metal sculpture. This year's bill is characteristically diverse, with pop-friendly house jocks like Fred Everything one week and bass exponents like Untold the next. Canadian debuts will come from Maceo Plex (AKA Maetrik) and funky house maestro Julio Bashmore.
Per usual, Piknic Electronik has its hand in some festivals as well. In June, Mutek will co-host the party with Floating Points and Luke Abbott. In July The Osheaga festival will bring Girl Unit, Jamie xx and Claude VonStroke to the mix. The series wraps up on September 25th with an event in association with POP Montreal, headlined by live electronic outfit dOP.
