New Covid-19 restrictions, including limiting capacity to 50 percent, come into effect tomorrow.
New Covid-19 restrictions in Berlin mean clubs either have to close or operate at 50-percent capacity.
Among the venues closing are Fitzroy, Alte Münze and ://about blank, which said via Instagram that it was going "into solidarity lockdown for at least four weekends."
Techno party SYNOID, which was due to take place at Alte Münze this weekend, also posted via Instagram. "We are convinced that it makes no sense to hold a techno party with an occupancy rate of 50 percent," the team wrote.
Most clubs, though, will stay open. As well as the 50-percent rule, they must now enforce "2G Plus," which requires all vaccinated and recovered attendees to also show a negative test at the door.
Clubs staying open include Berghain, Watergate, ÆDEN, Golden Gate and Anomalie Art Club. Kater Blau will also open, though Saturday's 44 Katzen party has been cancelled. Instead, tonight's event will run through until Sunday.
Earlier this week, Rémi Letournelle, owner of Fitzroy and Marie-Antoinette, spoke to Resident Advisor about the new restrictions and their impact.
Elsewhere in Germany, Bavaria is currently in the midst of a three-week lockdown as part of the fourth wave of Covid-19. Clubs must remain shut.
