Available to stream now via Deutsche Welle's YouTube channel, How Techno Shapes the Future traces the genre's roots in cities like Detroit, Frankfurt and Berlin, before assessing the impact of increasing commercialism, and looking at how the TikTok generation is recontextualising the scene. The likes of Stacey Hotwaxx Hale, Sven Väth and TAAHLIAH feature.
The 26-minute film is a follow-up to How techno was born: From Detroit to Berlin, which came out earlier this year and focused on techno's origins. Both documentaries are part of DW's Arts Unveiled series. Previous topics include the influence of Kraftwerk and Iran's feminist revolution.
