Sheik ‘N’ Beik started out as a New York City underground house and techno artist collective and event series by DJ / music producer Rechulski back in February 2008.
SNBs residents over the years were numerous, some of our regulars: Daiikon, Rohmi, Ray Rose, Kimyon, Mayssam, Andrew Grant (OG AG), Jeffrey Scott Tomas Station & Obee.
The events were quite regular, usually happening on Thursdays weekly at famed NYC spots such as Le Royale (where Lady Gaga and Lady Starlight started) and Kush Lounge (now Outer Heaven) amongst other places. During the weekends, SNB produced some of the most legendary 24 hour warehouse parties the city has ever seen, taking place at various warehouses and inconspicuous locations throughout the 5 boroughs. Responsible for bringing famed Circoloco brand to NYC, as well as collaborating with some of the city’s best known underground brands, Resolute, and Black Market Membership, TekSupport & Zero.
SNB eventually expanded to having done events globally, in South America, Europe, Asia and Africa with finally finding a permanent home in Okeechobee Florida at the Okeechobee Music & and Arts Festival, curating and booking the Jungle 51 dusk till dawn stage.
Notable artists that played at SNB: Ellen Allien, to Xosar, Arpiar, Julia Govor, Volvox, Wolfram, Honey Dijon, Lady Blacktronika, Umfang, Gerd Janson, Keith Worthy, Virginia, rRoxymore, Marcel Fengler, Mixmaster Morris, Dandy Jack, DJ Bone, Memek, Metro Area, Mr C., Lil Louis, Louisahhh, Phil Moffa, Mary Yuzovskaya, Mathew Jonson, Shaun Reeves, Tania Vulcano, Ryan Eliott, Guti, Kim Ann Foxman, Barem, Mass Prod., Anthony Parasole, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumont, Sven Väth, Derrick May, Nightmares On Wax, Damian Lazarus, Hiroko Yamamura, Cirillo and Maya Jane Coles to site a few.
Since 2014 SNB started an eponymous record label, Sheik ‘N’ Beik Records, as an outlet for Rechulski’s take on electronic music. The sound is quite varied not sticking to one linear path, but open to showcasing the endless combination of sounds available on the ambient to disco to house to minimal to techno to electronica spectrum. Some of the notable artists that have released on the label’s 16 releases so far are Voiski, Xamiga (Legowelt & Xosar), Keita Sano, Hermans, N’Conduit, OG AG, Colorful Language (Thomas Hildebrand & Josh Doubles) and a double vinyl LP by Simone Gatto. All releases are available on Vinyl & Digital.
Since 2019 and the pandemic, SNB took a big break and is now ready to open up the flood gates with Daiikon’s long awaited EP, Crise Collective. More to follow!
Sheik ‘N’ Beik is a mechanism filtered from the electronic ether, generating euphoric sediment in all willing hosts with whom it comes in contact, Sheik ‘N’ Beik’s multi faceted sonic and visual creations operate in communal, sensory driven fields where our engineers act as gatekeepers for such transcendental experiences. These fields form spontaneously and globally while Sheik ‘N’ Beik’s fixed, amorphous node pulsates in NYC. As our growth cycle continues and we reach higher levels of consciousness we also act as a biosphere offering a nurturing habitat where our engineers are free to bask under the dome of our mind expanding experiment.
